In today’s SPORTS we chat about the Cardinals, a CAREER DAY for Josh Hamilton, some NBA news, a bit of good news for the Blues and a HOME RUN BALL video you HAVE to check out!
Jake Westbrook and the Cards got a big 6-1 over the Diamondbacks last night and in big thanks to Carlos Beltran. Beltran hit went deep twice, one of those being a grand slam and drove in all six runs for the Cards. The two teams wrap up their series today…another late start…8:40 first pitch…Kyle Loshe gets the start for the Cards.
Speaking of big bats at the plate…how about Josh Hamilton from the Rangers. Dude hit FOUR home runs last night as the Rangers beat the Orioles 10-3. All four shots were two run homers and he also added a double in the 5th. By the end of the night, Hamilton had drove in 8 of the 10 total runs Texas scored. He is the 16th player in history to hit four home runs and the first since Carlos Delgado did it back in 2003.
The New Jersey Devils got the 3-1 win over the Flyers last night and move on to the Eastern Conference Finals after winning that series 4 games to 1. Now they wait the winner of the Rangers/Capitals series which could wrap up as early as tonight. The Rangers are currently up in that series 3 games to 2 and could eliminate Washington with a win.
Quick Blues note, Tom Stillman, a minority owner of the Blues since 2007, has put a group together and has received approval from the NHL to buy the St. Louis Blues. The next step is the closing of the sale – which is scheduled for today – and reports say there could be a press conference as early as tomorrow. The final price for the Blues? $130 million dollars – which includes the Peoria Riverman, and a chunk of the Peabody. Last year the Blues were valued by Forbes at around $157 million!
So with the NBA playoffs – we’ll pretty much just report when a team moves on. And the next team to move on is the Indiana Pacers after they have eliminated the Orlando Magic 105-87 last night and win their series 4 games to 1. Check out tonight’s NBA action by CLICKING HERE
Check out the WORST way to try and catch a Home run ball. A fan in the outfield at a Rays game “attempted” and terribly attempted at that to catch a home run ball. But what happened when he missed was classic. The ball drilled the dude right in the junk…and then made a quick right turn and blasted a woman in the face. It’s hilarious and you can see it BELOW:
