FRIDAY’S SPORTS w/ PATRICO

In today’s SPORTS REPORT we chat about the Cardinals, the NBA and NHL Playoffs, a coaches interesting recruiting technique, and watch a dude get LEVELED at the USA/BRAZIL soccer match.

Tonight, the Cards are in New York to take on the Mets for a weekend series…first pitch tonight is scheduled for 6:10pm as Adam Wainwright takes the mound for the Cardinals and Johan Santana gets the start for the Mets.

The Thunder beat the Spurs last night and ended San Antonio’s 20 game winning streak.  Game 4 will be on Saturday in Oklahoma…San Antonio currently leads the series 2-1.  Tonight, it’s the Heat and Celtics going at it for Game 3 of their series – currently the Heat lead that series 2 games to none.

The Devils and Kings hit the ice for game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals tomorrow.  After an overtime win for the Kings in game won, they look to take a 2-0 lead in New Jersey as puck drops at 7PM on Saturday.

Finally – seven time Norris winner, Nikolas Lidstrom has announced that he will retire after 20 seasons.  Lidstrom, who turned 42 in April, helped the Red Wings win the cup four times and is a lock for the Hall of Fame once eligible.

This coach is going to get a bit of trouble over this…but, if you ask us…dude has some solid logic.  James Franklin is the head coach for the football team at Vanderbilt.  And in an interview Wednesday, he said he won’t hire an assistant coach unless the dudes wife is hot.  Why?  Because he says having a smokin’ hot wife shows recruiting skills. He says QUOTE: “There’s a very strong correlation between having the confidence, going up and talking to a woman . . . [and] walking into a high school and recruiting a kid and selling him.”

And if you hate soccer…at least this video is entertaining.  A fan ran onto the field during the US/Brazil game the other day…and cops LEVELED his ass.
