The Supreme Court threw out fines and other penalties against FOX and ABC television stations that violated the FCC’s policy regulating curse words and nudity on television airwaves. The court concluded only that broadcasters couldn’t have known in advance that a couple of curse words or a brief display of nudity could/would result in penalties. The court STILL has to decide if the FCC gets to keep their ability to police the airwaves AT ALL. That ruling is expected this fall. For now, this is a small, but good victory.
The JERRY SANDUSKY case just found a way to get even more horrifying and awful. Yesterday, prosecutors in the Sandusky trial revealed that one of Sandusky’s adopted sons, 33-year-old Matt Sandusky, had volunteered to testify that his father had abused him. The prosecutors didn’t give any details on what the abuse was, or why they didn’t end up calling Matt to testify. Sandusky has five adopted sons, but Matt is the only one who’s come forward. Back in 1995, four months after he was adopted by the Sanduskys, he attempted suicide. Sandusky is already facing 48 counts of sexual abuse on 10 boys over 15 years. He’s looking at life in prison if he’s convicted. The jury is currently deliberating on the case.
The attorney for George Zimmerman released video and audio police tapes, including one in which George is brought back to the scene of the shooting…the day after it happened and he re-enacts for police what he says happened. SEE THE VIDEO HERE!
A video of a 68-year-old school bus monitor being mercilessly taunted by seventh-graders became a rallying point against bullies Thursday, with a fund for the New York grandmother raising at least $380,000 and a deluge of people demanding harsh punishment for the boys. Police said Karen Klein does not want her young tormenters to face criminal charges, partly because of the storm of criticism leveled at the boys from the Rochester suburb of Greece after the video went viral. “They’ve received death threats,” said Greece Police Capt. Steve Chatterton. “Their families have been threatened. We have custody of one of their cellphones, and he had over 1,000 missed calls and 1,000 text messages threatening him. And he’s 13 years old. That must stop.” SEE THE VIDEO OF IT ALL GOIN DOWN HERE!
When you see the X-ray, you cannot help but cringe and hope something like this never, ever, happens to you. A three-foot long steel shaft with stainless steel tips, shot from a spear-gun, perfectly stuck in a teenager’s skull, entering one inch above his right eye, through his brain, and exiting the back of his head. “You could feel the tip under the skin on the posterior part of the skull,” said Trauma Care surgeon Dr. George Garcia says. And 16-year-old Yasser López not only survived, but doctors say he stands a good chance of making a near-full recovery. Doctors stress how lucky he is. López begins rehab this week. And the surgeons successfully pulled off an amazingly complicated and delicate spear removal.
