In today’s SPORTS we talk about the Cardinals, a sommersaulting closer, Amar’e is in trouble, and some NHL news! Plus, finally there is some big time college football news happening and it’s finally a step in the right direction!
The Cardinals scored 5 runs in the 1st inning yesterday against the Marlins, and that’s all they needed, as they got the 5-2 win in Miami. Tonight the Cards and Marlins wrap up their series as Joe Kelly gets the Start for the Cards…first pitch scheduled for 6:10.
Another baseball note, Reds Closer Aroldis Champman celebrated his 9th save of the season against the Brewers. And he was so psyched that he did a double somersault towards homeplate. It’s hilarious and you can see the video …
Starting in 2014, there will FINALLY be a playoff system in college football. Now, it’ll be the top 4 teams and they’ll be picked by a selection committee, but it’s better than what we used to have. The BCS is finally dead. So basically here is how it works, the top ranked team with play the 4th ranked, and the 2nd, will play the 3rd. These games will happen on New Years Eve or New Years Day and the winners will take place on “Championship Monday” the following week. Locations are going to rotate between the Rose, Orange, Fiesta, Sugar and two other Bowl games to be decided.
Amar’e Stoudemire of the New York Knicks recently used a gay slur…it’s the one that rhymes with BAG to insult someone on Twitter. He immediately said, “I should have known better and this is no excuse.” Well, the NBA still has fined him $50,000 for his actions.
Speaking of basketball – University of Kentucky baseball star Anthony Davis entered NBA draft and the Hornets are expected to pick him #1. Here something that’s pretty awesome…he’s rocking a MAJOR UNIBROW and dude has even trademarked the sayings: “Fear the Brow” and “Raise the Brow”. And now, the dude is trade marking his actual brow because he doesn’t want anyone to make money off of it because of him. Today, we happily add Anthony Davis to our gallery of the BROWED AND PROUD.
NHL NEWS for ya…Joe Sakic, Mats Sundin, Pavel Bure, and former Blue Adam Oates are this years players being inducted into the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame in November. In other Adam Oates news – yesterday he was selected as thew new head coach of the Washington Capitals.
Finally – After offering Diddy’s son Justin Combs a football scholarship…UCLA has now done the same thing for Snoop’s son Cordell Broadus …but here is the funny thing…Cordell is only a SOPHOMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL!. No word if he’s accepting.
