A 27-year-old man from Georgia has been arrested for brutally killing his girlfriend’s Pomeranian dog and then using the dead animal’s body as a club to beat her with. After repeatedly kicking Cooper the dog and breaking the tragic pooches neck, Emmanuel Alfredo Tadeo turned the corpse into a weapon as he battered his 40-year-old girlfriend, Andrea Armintrout. Arrested on battery and animal cruelty charges, Sandy Springs police took Tadeo into custody in the Fulton Country Jail as he waits trial for the felonies.

A SkyWest Airlines pilot suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend stole an empty 50-passenger jet from a small Utah airport, crashed it as he drove near a terminal, then was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Brian Hedglin, 40, used a rug to scale the razor wire-topped security fence at the St. George Municipal Airport overnight Tuesday and drove off with the SkyWest jet. Hedglin clipped a wing on the terminal building and crashed into cars in a parking lot. The plane never left the ground. A police officer making rounds around 12:50 a.m. found a motorcycle with the engine running just outside the perimeter fence. As he searched the grounds for the owner, the officer came upon the idling plane and called SkyWest. The airline sent an employee to turn off the engine, he said. Inside, Hedglin was found with a gunshot wound to his head.

According to police, Kenneth Butterworth, 45, began driving erratically, weaving in and out of traffic when another driver changed lanes . The driver, whose name was not released, then honked his horn. When the driver of the other vehicle got in front of Butterworth’s Dodge Stratus, Butterworth changed lanes and pulled out a crossbow and pointed it at him.  The driver called 911, and Butterworth was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault. Police could not confirm whether he was still being held in jail.

A suburban Portland man says he was so moved by a documentary exploring the cause of the Great Recession that he decided to rob a bank. But apparently the film didn’t make enough of an impression for the 50-year-old Gresham man to keep the loot. Raymond Carl Knudson pleaded guilty Monday to sticking up a Bank of America branch in April, a crime he confessed within minutes of committing. Knudson entered the bank and handed over a robbery note. Then he drove to the Gresham Police Department carrying all $425 of the loot and confessed. He told investigators he felt compelled to rob the bank after watching “Inside Job,” the Academy Award-winning documentary that explores causes of the 2008 global financial meltdown.
