FRIDAY’S CRAP ON CELEBS & TODAY’S PORNO BDAY

Today’s CRAP ON CELEBS has us chatting the effect of the Colorado Shootings on the DARK KNIGHT.  And plus, a light hearted interview with Dylan McDermott gets REALLY awkward.  Plus today’s CRAPPY BDAYS and the world famous PORNO BDAY!

Will box office numbers be down this weekend because of the “Dark Knight Rises” shooting?  According to a poll by the research firm NRG, 20 to 25% of moviegoers say they might be afraid to hit theaters this weekend. And…..REALLY bad timing here.  The comic strip “Broom-Hilda” ran earlier this week with a joke about how people get irritated when people talk in movies . . . because, quote, “they can’t hear the gunshots.” The strip was written several weeks ago and was approved for publication a week before the shootings . . . so no one thought to re-check the comics.  The comic’s distributors issued a formal apology. And finally…..HARVEY WEINSTEIN has produced his share of violent movies . . . including everything QUENTIN TARANTINO has done.  But even he’s starting to wonder if movie violence is part of the problem. He says, quote, “I think, as filmmakers, we should sit down . . . the Marty Scorseses, the Quentin Tarantinos, and hopefully all of us who deal in violence in movies . . . and discuss our role in that.” He’s also for stricter gun control.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS created an awkward moment on “Good Morning America” yesterday when he abruptly asked DYLAN MCDERMOTT about his mother’s murder during a light-hearted interview. They were bantering about Dylan’s new comedy “The Candidate” in front of some smiling fans outside in Times Square when George decided to ask a HARD-HITTING question. He said, quote, “You know there’s something that’s been in the news lately . . . I know you can’t say much about it, but your mom was murdered 45 years ago . . . you were just five-years-old . . .”And just recently, with your help the case was finally solved and reached a conclusion.  Is there anything at all you can say about it?  I’d imagine that it’s at least brought you some peace.” Dylan responded, quote, “Well George, you know I want to keep my personal life personal you know, and I’m here to talk about ‘The Campaign’ you know.  That happened a long time ago and I’d rather just keep it for myself.” George said he respected that, and moved on. We’ve got video…

Vodpod videos no longer available.

“People” magazine says ROBERT PATTINSON has moved out of the house he shared with KRISTEN STEWART, and they’re currently not in contact with each other. A source says, quote, “I’m not sure they’ll be able to recover from this.  He is heartbroken and angry.” It should be noted, however, that the house actually belongs to Rob.  So his departure will probably only be temporary. Meanwhile, KRISTEN STEWART so far has NOT apologized to Rupert’s wife, LIBERTY ROSS. A source says she didn’t think it was appropriate to do that publicly, but she’s going to reach out to Liberty . . . quote, “She’s going to do the decent thing and write Liberty a private letter expressing her deepest regret for her actions. “Kristen feels she made a terribly naïve mistake and will do anything to make amends.  The fact that Liberty and Rupert have two kids has now dawned on her and she feels awful for what she did.”

As expected, RUSSELL BRAND will not spend any time behind bars for chucking that photographer’s iPhone in New Orleans earlier this year. His attorney cut a deal yesterday that resulted in 20 hours of community service and $500 in court fees.  The case will be dismissed if he finishes his community service by August 31st.

ERIC DANE will NOT return to “Grey’s Anatomy” this season.  He has played Dr. Mark Sloan . . . a.k.a. McSteamy . . . since Season Two in 2005. According to TVLine.com, he won’t be completely gone when Season Nine premieres in September.  He’ll be in several episodes so the show can give him “a proper farewell.”

Here’s something you probably didn’t know about DAN AYKROYD:  He can officiate weddings. And just presided over the wedding of CHEVY CHASE’S daughter. On today’s CRAP ON post of the show blog, you can see a picture he posted on Facebook. That’s the back of Chevy’s bald head in the foreground.

REGIS PHILBIN . . . who’s a longtime, die-hard Notre Dame fan . . . says it BROKE HIS HEART to see Penn State take down the JOE PATERNO statue.  He also believes the sanctions against the university were, quote, “overdone . . . really excessive in so many ways.”

NEW MOVIES THIS WEEKEND:

#1.)  “The Watch” With Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Jonah Hill start a neighborhood watch to get some MAN-TIME together, and accidentally uncover an alien plot to take over the world. It was originally going to be called “Neighborhood Watch”, but the studio didn’t want to attract any bad publicity after the Trayvon Martin incident. In fact, they revised their entire marketing campaign in March:  They pulled the teaser trailer out of theaters, and ditched the original posters for the movie, which featured a neighborhood watch sign with BULLET HOLES in it.

#2.)  “Step Up Revolution” The fourth “Step Up” movie stars Kathryn McCormick from “So You Think You Can Dance”.  She falls in love with the leader of a flash mob, and gets him to use the group to save the neighborhood from a real estate developer.

#3) “Killer Joe” (first of all, Joe) with Matthew McConaughey as a hitman hired by Emile Hirsch to kill his mother for her insurance money.  It was given an extremely rare NC-17 rating for violence, graphic sexual content, and one rape scene…..so it’s probably pretty good….but it’s only gonna be in a limited number of theaters.
