And now it’s time for the daily Olympic wrap up…
Monday was a slow day on the medal front for both the US and China, but China still leads. The US got medals in Women’s Pole Vault, the Men’s 400-meter hurdles, and Men’s 50-meter rifle.
Here is how the medal count pans out…
China is in first with 64 medals and 31 gold followed by the US with 63 medals and 29 gold. Russia is in third with 42 medals and they are followed by Great Britian and Japan.
A couple quick things involving team sports. The US womens soccer team beat Canada 4-3 after a header from Alex Morgan during INJURY time in EXTRA time. The other big team sports yesterday, saw the Men’s Basketball team beating Argentina 126-97.
And finally – there are 10,500 athletes at the London games…and only one has failed a drug test after competing..and be proud…he’s an American. 23 year old Nick Delpopolo was disqualified yesterday after testing positive…and he says that he claims it was eating…some pot brownies. As punishment the Olympic committee has taken away his accreditation card and he could face further punishment in the future!
